Abstract
India has a varied traffic mix of high-speed vehicles sharing the road space with vulnerable pedestrians resulting in high fatality rates. Nowadays road safety is needed because of the growth of Indian cities and the demand for urban-rural connectivity has put pressure on the authorities to implement road safety measures. Road safety, traffic management, and driver convenience continue to improve, because of large part thanks to appropriate usage of information technology. But this evolution has deep implications for security and privacy, which the research community has overlooked so far. Nowadays vehicles is increasing faster than the number of roads, leading to frequent traffic jams. Additional issues like include pollution and scarce parking spaces. In response to these problems, governments and manufacturers have launched several initiatives like mandatory safety-belt laws, airbags, and anti-blocking brake systems, which have improved the situation some-what Upcoming traffic safety advantages rely heavily on information technology, which means that vehicles must be able to authenticate themselves and be traceable whenever necessary, be it for law enforcement (detection of speeding vehicles, for example), crash reconstruction, or toll collection.
