DESIGN OF A DUAL BAND CSRR BASED FRACTAL ANTENNA FOR WI-FI AND WI-MAX APPLICATIONS

Abstract
This paper highlights the proposed design for a modified Dual band second iteration Minkowiski Island Fractal Monopole antenna using a Circular Split Ring Resonator.The proposed Antenna has been fed through a 50? Microstrip line feeding technique over Rogers RT/Duroid 5880tm substrate of permittivity 2.2, for the Wi-Fi and Wi-Max applications. The proposed structure resonates at Wi-Fi frequency (2.4 GHz) and the Wi-Max frequency (3.5GHz). The proposed Antenna resulted in a Gain of 0.21 dBi for 2.4GHz and 2.21 dBi for 3.5GHz.The size of the proposed structure is 35mm × 35mm with a thickness of 1.6mm.The proposed structure resulted in a -10dB impedance Bandwidth of 157.8MHz, 357.5MHz for the lower and the upper band respectively. Results were validated by the Antenna simulation tool Ansoft HFSSTM version15.0.
